A Stamp and A Sketch

Here I am again with another "dual" challenge. This sketch is by Andrea at Cute Card Thursday Challenge Blog.
Great challenge this week by Sue for us to use the "Easter Lilies" digi image to make a card. If you hurry over to TMIA you will be able to download this image for free to play in the challenge this week.

I just love Nina's images and these are no exception. I cut out the images once I had printed them out and then attached with pop dots once I had them colored. I don't add sentiments until I am ready to mail them.
This was a fast and simple card this week and I hope you enjoy.

Recipe:  DP Paper Pizzaz & Bazzill - Copics RV02, 00, 0000 - YG 03-63-97

Doubling Up On Challenges Today

What a fantastic day it has been here in Missouri. The sun finally peeked through the clouds, no humidity, temp was about 65, just a perfect day!!!

As most of you know, I don't usually submit more than one challenge at a time but because I'm having a terrible time seeing until my new glasses arrive on Friday (I HOPE!) it's easier for me to combine them if at all possible.  Of course, I get confused on which challenge I"m doing and never know for sure if I've met the requirements or not...lol

This card if for the challenge at Bronte and Bella's (Mo's) Digital Challenge blog  (1 Ribbon - 2 Buttons or Brads - 3 Designer Papers) and Sweet Stampin Challenge Blog (Sketch)

I've been wanting to color this fantastic image by Mo Manning at Mo's Digital Pencil Shop for a long time. The first time I saw her was on a card made by Rachel Jakes and I fell in love with her. No way could I ever color her as beautiful as Rach colored her but I figured it was about time I gave it a try.  Thanks Rach for inspiring me to step out of my comfort zone.

Recipe: DP Basic Grey/Bittersweet Pad & Bazzill -  Memento Black Ink - Ribbon & buttons from stash - Prima Flower from Wild Orchids Crafts with Angel Wings Shimmerz added - Copics: R81, 83, 85, 89 - E11, 01, 00, 000 & R20 - C1, 0, 000 - E43, 44, 47,49 - Angel Wings Shimmerz was added to her wings to give them that extra glow. Since I really not a big fan of sewing on cards I added a small prima rose to the center of the buttons.

Here is the sketch by Jo from the Sweet Stampin Blog
Thanks so very much for stopping by and I hope to see you again soon.  If you have the time to leave me a comment I'll hop on over to your blog to see what's new and your lovely creations.
Don't forget. Blog candy ends April 30 at 12:00 pm - Drawing will be May 1 and announced by 8 pm that evening.  If you haven't signed up for my anniversary candy, please click on this link if you would like to enter.

Hi Everyone, Hope your Sunday has been fantastic!

Can't say I didn't try though........lol

I also want to apologize to Nina and the DTs at

A Girlie Sweet as Sugar

Anyone for Anya? Challenge
Ever since I saw this tutorial on ribbon borders I knew I just had to try it. My first attempt didn't turn out too bad but I goofed by not reading all of the instructions.....(no glasses..LOL) so I had to improvise once I got started because I wasn't going to ruin that pretty paper I'd cut out with a Spellbinders label die.

I've just got to quit being so wordy lately!!!!

Here is a picture of just the front of the card.  Hope you like it!

Recipe:  DP Kaiser Kraft and Making Memories; Ribbon Border Frame; Image Sassanech-Anya from The Greeting Farm; sentiment from Simon Says; Flowers by Prima with Grape Stickles; MS Lattice & branch punches; brads from Spare Parts; Green Olive Shimmerz.  Ribbon and brads are from my stash.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope to see you again soon. If you haven't entered to win my first year blogaversary candy, just click on this link to play along.

Happy Penguin Day Celebration

While out visiting, I came upon the Stamptacular Sunday Challenge Blog and thought I'd give it a try. They are celebrating "World Penguin Day" on April 25th and the challenge was to make a card or project that reminds us of a penguin.  The DTs did a great job on their cards so hop on over to see something a little different.
Always looking for a challenge.......LOL

Boy, this was a hard one for me, guess cause I've been out of commission for a few days. This is the only penguin stamp that I have and it's from Peachy Keen Stamps. I've had it for ages.

Recipe: Paper from stash (last sheet of birthday paper too)
Image: Penguin with Big Fish by Peachy Keen Stamps
Spellbinders scalloped circle dies
Stars with crystal center from stash

Hell Hath No Fury Like A Woman Without Glasses

Thought that was an attention getter.........LOL

Well, to update you on my status, I found a very old pair of glasses, that give me terrible headaches, but I'm wearing them long enough to do this post and then in a little while I'm heading to the craft room.  How I missed donating these to the Lions Club, when I donated about 12 other pair, is beyond me but I'm thankful I did. Made 5 trips to optical stores today to see if anyone had a frame that my lenses would fit in and nope, not one, so back to the optometrist to order another pair and send the lenses from the broken frame back to the lab to see if they can fit them into something else for a backup.  Do you all have any idea how much glasses cost now?????  Talk about sticker shock. The frames were only 10 years old....LOL  By the time all was said and done, trifocals, veriflux ultra (so they aren't so heavy and thick) transitions added so I only had to have one pair, and the frames were only $100 but the total was over $600.
There go my craft purchases for awhile........."sobs"

Geez, I had no idea how much I missed doing challenges and trying to keep in touch with all of you.  I am so thankful for such wonderful followers and encouraging comments from all of you.
Thank you for bearing with me during this time. It's nice to know you are missed.

On a more positive side, I'm headed to the craft room to see if I can't create something really special that you all will enjoy.  Here is a picture of what else we are in the midst of doing..kitchen renovation
I'll share the after with you when it's done.  Talk about a mess!!! LOL

Thanks for stopping by and I hope to have another post in just a few hours.

Beary Sweet Blog Candy

Still no eyes but hopefully by tomorrow so that I can get busy and get some cards made.....
I'm missing my craftroom something terrible......LOL

Since I'm  not seeing too well, I'm copying this entry from The Beary Scrap Blog.
Looks yummy to me!!!!

"Hello Friends, it's Kimm here. The girls and I have something "beary sweet" to share with you. It's our very first "Blog Candy!" Whoo Hoo! You may be asking yourself why? Well, we have lots of reasons to be Celebrating and a million more reasons to be Grateful for all that we have been blessed with. We are thankful to all of our crafting friends that come to visit us, shop in our store, visit our little shop in PA, send us beautiful emails and encourage us to keep on keeping on. Most of all, I am truly thankful for these amazing girls that have been inspiring all of us over the past few weeks! Aren't they amazing? How about a round of applause for them. Okay, before I start blubbering like a goof... drum roll please (da da da da da... )"

No Eyes

Can you believe that I broke my glasses in half and am blind as a bat without them. Even super glue won't hold them together.  So, no eyes, no crafting, and not much computer time.  Thank goodness I have an appointment with the optometrist tomorrow and cross your fingers he has frames in stock to fit my lenses.  This has never happened before and if it ever happens again I'll be sure to have a backup pair handy.

Thanks to my hubby, who doesn't even know how to turn the computer on, for typing this up for me.  I'll be back as soon as I have eyes again.................

Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you again soon.  Don't forget to scroll down check out my blog candy if you haven't been to that post yet.

Daiseys from Doodles

WooHoo----I'm so excited. I won 2 of the new golfing digi stamps with this card.
Special thanks to the DZ Doodles team.

Hope you've all had a great weekend and your weather was perfect. It's been beautiful here all weekend except the nights have been REALLY cool but then that makes for good sleeping.....

Here is my card for DZ Doodles Challenge #5, which was to find a sketch from another challenge and make a card for this challenge.  I chose the sketch from Stamp with Fun this week except I modified it somewhat and kept the card a little less embellished.  I prefer to leave the sentiments off until I'm ready to send it to someone so that it is more versatile.
Hope you like it!

Recipe: DP Basic Grey/Lime Rickey and Bazzill; Image - Basket and bouquet of daiseys from DZ Doodles, I cut out the daiseys and the basket before attaching to the spellbinder's classic circle dies with dimensionals; MS punches (new tools here) and then threaded with an 1/8" yellow ribbon from my stash; the flowers were made using an EK Success poinsettia punch then I rounded off the tips and layered 3 of the flowers and attached together with a brad after coloring with copics; Copics: G21-G24-G28, Y00-Y02-Y32-Y38, E29-E25-E35-E53. Used Copic Multiliner 003 Black to make the dots in the center of the daiseys. To complete the daiseys once they were colored, I added Sunny Sunset Shimmers to each petal.

Sending My Love

Talk about a wild, colorful card this time.......LOL
Not something I would normally do but I was feeling a little outta the box last night. Once I picked out the basic papers, tried to pull as much color from the stripes as possible. I hope you like it!

I really liked the sketch from the Stamp with Fun challenge this week and will probably use it a lot in future cards.  The sketch is by Emmi41 (Andrea)over at Mini and Maxi.

The challenge over at There's Magic in The Air was by Nilla this week and she wanted us to use "Merry Wishes" and the colors blue/green/white for our card.  The digi image is a free one this week by Nina from Paper Cupcakes.  Don't you think she turned out to be just the cutest little sheepette?

First Anniversary Blog Candy

Happy Anniversary to me.......LOL
One year of blogging has arrived so much faster than I ever thought it would.  I finally got the blog developed and my first post was on April 28th of 2009. My first card was posted May 1, 2009, and I had no idea what I was doing, except it looked like fun and I loved making cards.  Plus, I wanted to enter some challenges and meet some internet crafters so I could learn from them, not only about card making but about blogging.

This candy is for one of my followers and internet crafting friends. So, if you follow my blog and just have not taken the time to sign up or if you find just a little inspiration here, then please take the time to sign up to follow so that you will be eligible to win the candy, then please leave a comment on THIS post.

Hopefully, this post will remain at the top of my blog until April 30, 2010 (if I figure out how to get it to stay there).  To be fair to everyone, I will print out all the comments and then have my next door neighbor pull a comment out of the hat and one person will be the lucky winner.
Winner to be announced MAY 1.
My neighbor has MS, is wheelchair bound, and very honest.

To my current followers, some who have been with me since almost day one, I appreciate you more than you know and look forward to visiting your blogs, reading your wonderful comments, and just chatting when we have the chance.  Thank you for inspiring me and for being my friend.

Cute Card Thursday Challenge 107

Just realized that the card I posted last night might also qualify for the Cute Card Thursday Challenge 107  - Mono Mania!  I've got to do a better job of keeping on top of these things.....lol

Since I don't know how to do two posts at the same time I'm going to submit this card for the challenge. Guess I'm just going to have to take the time and do some research on how to do 2 posts in 1.
Scroll down to the previous post for details.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you again soon.

No Purple, Pink or Green

Almost pulled out my favorite colors but decided to do a black, white, and silver card for the sketch challenge over at Friday Sketchers. Thanks to Beatrix for the great sketch this week.
Normally I would color my image but since it has so much detail I decided to just color the stamens black and go with the original printout in keeping with my black and white scheme. I sincerely apologize because I don't have a clue where I obtained this image, so if you one of you know where it came from, please let me know so I can acknowledge that person and website. I've had it for quite sometime now.
The quality of the picture is not that good because I took it in the diningroom
and it's not the best lighting possible but guess it's good enough to show my glue boo-boo..lol

DP is from stash and I haven't a clue where I got it except for the Black Crepe Ruche that came from Papertemptress. The black felt like black paper with the silver dots is from a company in France but the name had been removed from the paper so DUH... I do know it was purchased at Archiver's.
Paper flowers are from Creative Memories, and the others from Prima.
The ribbon and corner brads are from my stash.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope to see you again soon.
Have a wonderful weekend!

MoJo Monday #133

Wow, 2 posts in one day. For me that's a lot.....LOL  I'm having so much fun playing in my craftroom everyday now that I'm not working part-time and hubby is doing soooooooo much better I'm not having to stay right on his tail so much, but I do still have to stay home more than I'd like.
Okay, I know you must be getting tired of seeing purple, pink, and green by now but I seem to gravitate toward those colored papers these days. Could be because purple hues are my favorite colors.
This sketch is by Janette Olen for MoJo Monday Contest #133.
I've used "Auora with Cake" by Victoria Case over at Susana's Custom Art and Card Design shop.
The DP is from KaiserKrafts; Prima Flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts with Grape Stickles; Spellbinders Classic Oval and Scalloped dies; MS Branch Punch; Copics; Butterfly is from stash.
On the cake I used Angel Wings, Pink Poinsettia and Lilac Shimmerz enhanced with Grape Stickles.

Tomorrow will be a fun day even if I'm taking my hubby to neurologist in KC because I'll get to stop by some craft stores and have lunch out before coming back home.  My best friend will be babysitting here with the dogs as she loves to play in the craftroom and my babies won't be alone.  I think she gets more done when I'm gone than when I'm here.........LOL

Thanks so much for stopping by to visit and I hope to see you again soon.  Maybe I'll get a chance to pick up some more things for blog candy so I can atleast get a picture posted for you all.  I know, the suspense is killing you.  If you'd like a chance to win and would like to become a follower it would just make my day!
Please be sure to leave me a comment if you have time so I can hop on over and visit you to see what's new on your blog. I haven't been doing a very good job of getting around to everyone lately so that is tops on my to-do-list when I get back from KC tomorrow.

Have a wonderful evening! "Hugs" Granny (Carol)

There's Magic in the Air - Spring challenge

Happy Thursday to you all!!  This post is for the challenge at There's Magic In The Air.
A big thanks to Selma for this great challenge which was to celebrate spring with cards that have 3-D flowers and leaves along with any acquired Paper Cupcake image. I used the image "Moss Topped Birdhouse" by Nina. I somewhat followed the design on Selma's card because I couldn't seem to find a sketch I liked that fit the challenge, so thanks again Selma.  After looking at this card I think I should  have made the image larger because it's overwhelmed by the Prima flowers........ggggrrrrrr  It took me quite awhile to get it cut out and colored with Copics so the next time I make a card using it, I will enlarge it so that it will be the dominate feature on the card .................I love birdhouses!
Paper is from scrap pile; MS border and leaf punches; Prima Flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts;
the vellum flower and butterfly are from Jolee's Boutique.

Thanks so very much for stopping by and I hope to see you again soon.  I've still got to get my blog candy posted, if my order ever arrives so I can take a picture of it.  Don't ya think my followers should know what they have a chance to win............I do!

Please feel free to leave me a comment and if you fancy, become a follower so that you have a chance to win the candy............I'm keeping everyone in suspense....LOL

Squigglefly Flap Card

What a fun challenge this was to do. Special thanks to Kim for her design.
Will be a short post because the weather is rapidly deteriorating and we have severe storms forecast.
Can't be on the computer when lightening - I'll be hiding in the basement.......lol
Recipe: DP Basic Grey; Prima Roses with Mulberry Smooch; Brads are by Basic Grey; MS border and leaf punches; Spellbinders oval scalloped die; Flower Soft Sage;
image by Cheryl Alger and colored with Copics.
I was going to try and include this with another challenge but forgot to use buttons instead of brads.
Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope to see you again soon.
Have a fantastic week!

TGF Week 2 - Design Teams Royal Battle

I'm so excited as my card was chosen this week by the team for the Design Team Battle Royal at The Greeting Farm. Isn't this just the cutest Laurie digi image by Marina over at The Greeting Farm!
Our challenge this week was to make an easel card for the Design Team Royal Battle.  With is being Morel Mushroom hunting season here in Missouri, I just had to make a card using Laurie sitting on a portobello
(not a Morel but it is a mushroom).
