The Stampin Boutique Sponsors For Fun Challenges This Week

The Challenge at For Fun this week is to create a project using summer colors, bright colors, and even neon colors from the 80's. I had chosen Patriotic AJ earlier from The Stampin Boutique and decided that to make him fit this challenge that there is nothing brighter in July than red, white, and blue. Needless to say, I had to really jazz up the paper for it to look like I wanted it to look and that took me hours to do, so I really hope you can see the background with all the bling and brightness.

This is one week you will definitely want to play along with us at For Fun.  The Stampin Boutique will be giving away  digi images to one lucky winner.

  • DP is Imaginisce and all the explosions are done with Ruby Red and Stardust Stickles.

  • Center was cut with a Spellbinder's dye, covered in craft glue and smothered with Barbara Trombley's Crystal Glitter.

  • The fireworks coming out of the flowers are wire with Score Tape wrapped around them and dipped in more of Barbara's glitters, Crystal, Red Oak, and Canadian Blue. I tried glue first, stickles second, and then got tired of the mess so decided to try Score Tape. So much easier, no mess, and no drying time.

  • Flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts with Stickles added - ribbon from stash

  • AJ is colored with copics, gold stickles for the belt and buttons, silver stickles for the flag pole and stars and Glossy Accents added to the shoes.  Ever see a military man without a spit shinned shoe? I sure haven't!

  • Copics: B39, 37, 29, 24, 49 - R46, 49 - E11, 00, 000, R20 - C7, 3, 2, 0, 00 and 110 Black - .03 Black and Red Multiliner Pens
Be sure to hop on over to For Fun to see the beautiful creations by the rest of the DTs.

Thanks so much for visiting my little corner of the world and I hope to see you back again soon.  If you have the time to leave me a comment it will be much appreciated and I will be sure to stop by to visit your blog.

Bianca Says "I DO" at For Fun

A BIG Thanks to our sponsor this week - Fairy Knoll - A place where fairies fly and dreams come alive. Fairy Knoll offers digital stamps filled with fantasy and magic ~ we hope you can visit them soon.
The Design Team are really excited to share some of their fantastic cards with you at For Fun and give you the opportunity to be chosen for not one or two, but three (3) of their favorite images from Fairy Knoll.
We sure hope you will be able to play along with us this week.  All you need to do to win is create a card using the following sketch challenge and post it via Mr. Linky at For Fun.

Here is the following sketch challenge for this weeks challenge, created by Helen at For Fun Challenges. After all, who doesn't love a sketch challenge? For me, it takes the guess work out of what I'm going to do and all I have to do is pick out the paper and the image, then have fun seeing what I can do with it......easy peasy since I never vary too far from the sketch.

This beautiful image is "Bianca". I chose the sentiment "I DO" (cut out on the Cricket - Thanks Diana) because I thought the position of her hand indicated she was showing off a ring, but if she wasn't, then I wanted her to be. Since I didn't have a small enough gem to add I added a dot of Diamond Stickles (not sure it's showing up in this photo) to her ring finger.  After I finished the card I realized it probably should have said "I WILL"
but by then it was too late....sighs
  • DP- DCWV "Once Upon A Time", CM Gold Metallic, left over merlot paper from my grandson's wedding invitations and programs

  • The Merlot paper is from Paper Temptress and is embossed with a Cuttlebug folder but I threw away the package it came in and don't remember the name of it....DUH  I must be getting old!

  • Metallic gold was cut with Spellbinder's round scalloped ovals and edged in Gold Stickles.

  • The Tiara was done in French Lila Ultrafine Glitter from Barbara Twombley with the smallest gem I had placed in the top.

  • Flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts

  • Copics were used to color the image....sorry! I forgot to write them down.
Please hop on over to For Fun to see what the rest of the design team have created with Fairy Knoll digi's, just for you.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Hope you have the time to leave me a much appreciated comment,
and if you do, I'll be over to visit real soon.

Memories & Dreams Little Book

What a fun time over at For Fun Challenges this week creating this little book. Thank goodness Helen gave us a picture tutorial or I would probably never have gotten mine done.  I was clueless but I do like the way it turned out for what I wanted to put in it. Please be sure to check out the other DTs to see their wonderful creations at For Fun.

The title is Memories & Dreams 2010 because it brought back so many memories of my father years ago and the dreams he had for my oldest grandson. I'll try to keep this short!!!! During the 20's, 30's and 40's (prior to WWII) my dad played professional golf with some of the greats, Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, and many others. After returning home from the war, money was tight and he didn't have a sponsor, so the money for him to go on tour was not there.  He gave up his PGA status to return to amateur golf and in 1948 and 1950 he won the Missouri Amateur.  He was the only person and the last to bring that trophy to St. Joe 60 years ago.  The dream was that my grandson would eventually play professional golf but that in the meantime he would bring the trophy home once again.  My dad died in January 1998, on a golfing trip to Texas and never got to see Jer play HS or Division 1 Collegiate Golf but the dream lived on.

This year the trophy returned to St. Joe. It wasn't Jer who brought it home but a young man 3 years older than Jer that grew up in Jr. Golf with Jer and my dad. We were invited to and attended a reception for Brad last Wednesday where my father was also honored. What a privilege and honor it was to share in Brad's achievement and to see one of my dad's dreams come to life, even though it wasn't his great grandson.

Below are some of the pictures in the Little Book. I also want to thank you so much for stopping by to visit and hope you will join us at For Fun this week to share your "Little Book" with us. If you have the time to leave me a note, long or short, it will be appreciated and I'll be sure to come visit.

The first pic is the trophy that normally stays in Jefferson City at the Capital but it's in St. Joe for 1 year.
The second is a picture of the traveling trophy that stays with the winner for 1 year showing my dad's name
The third is Brad, 2010 MO Amateur, myself, and Jer

Happy Veterans Day Early

Okay, Okay, I know we just finished Independence Day but I'm getting a head start on my Veterans Day cards and wanted to use one of the digi's I'd colored from Nina over at There's Magic In The Air/Paper Cupcakes.  Can't stand to see colored images just sitting around collecting dust, plus I decided to submit this card for one of the Guest Design spots currently open.  If you have a desire to be on a design team, please hop on over to Nina's blog for all the details as she is looking for new team members and guest designers.

When I decided to try digi stamps, my first digi came from Paper Cupcakes and I played in quite a few of their challenges. The design team is awesome and I've made some fantastic blogging and internet friends over at TMIA/PC.  Even though I haven't been participating in many of the challenges lately, the DT have continued to encourage me and support my blog through faithful comments and visits. There are going to be some new and exciting things happening at TMIA in the near future, like blog hops, etc., etc., so I hope you will check it out and participate in the DT and GD call.

Thanks so much for stopping by to visit. I hope you have the time to leave me a short, or long comment and I'll be by to visit soon.

Happy Independence Day

Just popping in to wish you all a safe and Happy 4th of July here in America and to those of you celebrating your own patriotic holidays and those across the seas.
I want to share some digi's I've colored with Copics for Nina at

Awhile back I'd asked Nina if she could design some patriotic digi's for various holidays when I was searching for digi's to make cards for our military personnel serving overseas and recouperating at our nearby Veterans Hospital.  Here are just four of those wonderful images and I know she is working on creating some for each branch of our military.

I hope you like them and will pop on over to PaperCupcakes  to get some of these super images.

Thanks so very much for stopping by. Hope you have the time to leave me a short comment, or long if you like..... and I'll be by to visit you soon.
